A full website build for South Pembina Clinic — a Winnipeg walk-in and family practice — followed by a focused, single-page site for its sister practice, Pembina Pediatrics. Rather than starting from scratch twice, the second site reused and adapted the design system built for the first: same visual language, tailored structure and tone for a different audience.

The Challenge

South Pembina Clinic — a walk-in and family practice clinic in Winnipeg — needed a website that made it easy for patients to find hours, services, and their care team, and to know at a glance whether walk-ins were being accepted. Shortly after, its sister practice, Pembina Pediatrics, needed its own web presence: a friendlier, more focused site speaking directly to parents of young kids, while still feeling clearly connected to the South Pembina brand. The challenge wasn’t just designing one good site — it was building something that could represent two related but distinct practices, serving two different audiences, without either site feeling like a copy of the other or a completely disconnected brand.

The Solution

Starting with South Pembina Clinic

This was the larger build, so it’s where the core system took shape: site architecture (About, Services, Team, FAQ, Patient Policies, Uninsured Services), a reusable service page template, a team component for physician bios, an accordion-style FAQ, and the visual language — color palette, typography, and a warm-but-clinical tone — for the whole clinic group.

Extending the system to Pembina Pediatrics

By the time Pembina Pediatrics needed a site, the design system was already established. That meant the second build wasn’t a from-scratch design exercise — it was an exercise in adaptation:

  • A single-page, anchor-nav structure instead of a full multi-page site, matching the smaller scope of a focused pediatric practice
  • Softer, more reassuring copy aimed at parents (“Compassionate Care for Every Stage of Childhood”) versus South Pembina’s more transactional walk-in messaging
  • A simplified service list (six icon-led services) instead of full service subpages
  • The same color system, logo treatment, and footer structure — including a “Sister Clinics” cross-link between the two sites — to keep the two practices feeling like part of one family.

Two live, distinct sites that clearly belong to the same healthcare group:

  • southpembinaclinic.ca — a full clinic site with team, services, and patient info
  • pembinapediatrics.ca — a focused, welcoming single-page site for a pediatric audience.

Beyond the sites themselves, the project demonstrated something useful for future work: a well-built design system doesn’t just make one site better — it makes the next site faster to build and easier to keep consistent, without sacrificing the ability to speak to a different audience.
